‘Be Safe Be Seen’ Ambassador Anna Meares delights the TDU Village crowd

The delightful and inspiring Anna Meares came along to our tent at the Tour Down Under Village for a signing session and created quite the buzz!

From the word go, the line to meet the World Cycling Champion and Olympic Gold Medallist was filled with excited fans - and they were not disappointed.

Photographs with Anna were a must-have for many, as were the personalised, signed ‘Be Safe Be Seen’ posters. With a chat and plenty of smiles for everyone, the Champion proved why she is such a crowd favourite.

The next generation of Cyclists and cycling fans were particularly excited to get a moment with Anna, including a team of junior track cyclists from Wagga Cycling Club, in town for the Adelaide leg of the National Junior Track Series.

All the kids that lined up to meet her came away with not only a signature and a great memory, but a reminder of the need for safety on their bikes from Anna that will no doubt make more of an impression than anything their parents can say!

At the other end of the spectrum, we heard about a 76 year old who was inspired to take up cycling last year for the first time after reading “The Anna Meares Story” – and is now aiming for the Masters Games – truly impressive.

The session was a great success, and Anna left a lot of very happy fans with some great memories and the important ‘Be Safe Be Seen’ message. We couldn’t be happier to have such a champion on board the campaign!

Bike SA & the Motor Accident Commission are offering FREE 30 minute presentations as part of the ‘Be Safe Be Seen’ campaign to Adelaide CBD workplaces.
